I'm not sure where to start on this one but I do have a point to this post...and I guess the point is just that: whether it's always a good idea to write down and share your thoughts on your blog even though you might not have anything significant to say or potentially create passionate responses because the subject may divide opinion?
At first I viewed my blog as a diary, a journal and a blank canvas not only to add pretty pictures of things I've seen or endless shots of things I make but to have it also as a place where I could spout, rant and get things off my chest. It was like I had an overwhelming need to just release but never with the intention of setting myself up as an author. I'm not pretending to be one nor do I have "Carry Bradshaw's" voice in my head dictating to me as I type.

BUT Because of the public nature of blogs, it is after all available to everyone to read, it also creates opportunities where you leave yourself open to some possible criticism and ridicule. I'm not offended by that, nor am I a stranger to savage mocking... I have an older brother so that's pretty much like water off a duck's back!

So why does it happen, why do people bother taking time out of their busy day to rip you to shreds?
I really don't understand people's incessant need to comment because they think it's their duty. To tell you that they don't particularly like what you've written is OK but to tell you that "your grammar is poor and that you have spelling mistakes in your posts" is an obvious attempt to belittle another person because they see you as inferior. As a norm I try not to give into the temptation of replying with a curt "F$£k Off " but in this case that e-mail should have been deployed. My mind rarely stands still, runs at a thousand miles an hour and so does my mouth. I speak fast and think fast so when I write I miss out words. Same as when I speak. That's not a sign of bad grammar but of poor concentration and a trait of a quick thinker!
BTW I've never called my self a writer so the fact that someone replies to a post and says she is (how true that is is another story) and thinks my attempt at communication is shambolic is neither constructive or nice. It's not a school yard tussle over who's the leader of the gang besides I'm not 12 years old anymore or in The Spice Girls.
Look, if there's something that was written that winds you up so much then argue the point but don't dissect the post, quote and unquote my words in inverted commas to then proceed to answer as if you were having "a conversation with your self". If the post isn't about you and if it is about anyone in particular then I welcome that person to contact me. People are aware of what they have written, it is their blog, and no other person is obliged to read it. Returning to my initial question, is it a good idea to post about things which are more then just fluffy articles about how fun it was wallpapering the alcove?I think it is. People will communicate no matter what you deem worthy or not and I'm not prepared to give up blogging because of anyone.I enjoy writing. If someone is offended by my style of writing then that's their problem. Not everyone likes the same authors or the same books...come to think of it we don't all like the same people nether!
By getting too personal with your comments you set the seed of doubt and turn people away from expressing their thoughts even if you place a little winking smiley face icon at the end of it.
I'm not stupid or uneducated but my life is very different from when I was at art school so the need to over analyze and intellectualize every little point has pretty much stayed there in the past. I'll sit down and chew the cud with you, talk about existentialism, Marx, Sylvia Plath, Surrealism and "the life of Brian" in great detail if that's what you'd like to talk about. I am open to people disagreeing...I'm not that much of a egomaniac to know that my opinion isn't the only one in the world or the most important.
The blogosphere is not the domain of one person and yes there are lots of great bloggers out there and lots of not so great bloggers (of which I include myself whole hearted in the latter) but it's not about who's the best writer, who has the best pictures of themselves in pretty vintage dresses, lives in the prettiest houses or about who takes home the prize for wittiest comment. If reading someone's blog causes that much heart ache...then stop reading! By all means leave a comment, disagree and fight your corner to the death for what you believe in but don't get personal with insults. Cross that blog off your "follow" list and get a life! There's a world out there...not just a cyber one but also one of air and trees.Then you might find something interesting to write about.

At least I have you to thank for J.B. for inspiring me to write this and especially for showing that you are in fact a knob. You might be a writer but you're still a knob. My reply to your comment about being an elitist? Three words for you doll: Pot. Kettle. Black.

Say it with ME..."NO"

Last year I vowed that I'd take things easier and not say "YES" to everyone and everything that comes my way but yet again I get caught up in the moment and end up saying exactly what I didn't want to say in the first place.
"YES".
A simple three letter word which carries a huge weight and expectation producing a fleeting yet brief high. It's a momentary buzz not just for the person asking the question but also for the individual on the receiving end. But does every request require an answer?
It's a small word which often gets in the way. "Y.E.S." So small yet it requires a lot of attention and impedes me from going beyond the everyday endless struggle of spinning a thousand and one plates of which a small percentage are my own. I'm running from plate to plate to keep them from crashing down onto the floor!
It's a difficult circus act. The clowns are screaming "Yes" as the ringmaster wedges 10 of them into a "Noddy" comedy car and they proceed to precariously weave in between the plates at high speed. They honk their horn as they come close to crashing into my rotating crockery! I'm still spinning and struggling to keep up.
I have always believed in the shared common pool of knowledge that helps individuals to fulfill a more creative,sustainable life,being proactive and forthcoming.
To receive that knowledge we need to ask questions and they require an answer to which I mostly reply "Yes" to.
Almost every request I get regarding collaborations I answer with the same small word. "YES".
I like helping people,sharing ideas,dreams,ideals and even fulfilling simple,basic requests. Wouldn't you? Say it with me:"Yes". It sounds good! Doesn't it?
But let's try saying "No". In my head it echoes like a lost,forgotten voice and as I write I am still annunciating each singular letter..."N'-"O". It still sounds uneasy even though it's an even smaller word. Still, lets try again. Take another breath and say it once more: "NO".
It stumbles off the tongue like a massive lead bubble which hits the roof of my mouth and crushes the little air left circulating up to the nostrils. You'd think it would be easier to say,wouldn't you?!

More and more these days I seem to be using this blog as a form of venting my rage,anger,frustration...URGH...all those "time wasting" sorts of emotions that I really could do with out.
Initially I was hoping to post my creations. This blog was started as a showcase or a diary of sorts where I could post my ever expanding body of work and projects. My mind constantly swirls with ideas and projects some fulfilled some to be forever a mere cartoon light bulb that just briefly shines above my cartoon head. I have been told that I have my fingers in too many pies...some say that I've en started to use my toes! So maybe that's the problem. Stretching myself too far and not concentrating on just one thing.
People do start things and actually half way through desist so no shame in letting go. But there's that flaw again. I am unable to leave something alone until it's reached it's potential or its goal. By far not the worst character trait but possibly a self damaging,self deprecating one. So people and things move on...
they grow,evolve,lose interest,give up, or however you look at it... but I still find myself stuck in a position of "head donkey". The load barer. I might need to explain that one. "Donkey" as in the animal that gets on with it,takes the heavy load and hobbles on unthanked,unaided and most definitely struggling in a state of extreme tiredness until what is asked of him/her is done. Not a great analogy though it works for me ,explains how I feel and I definitely feel like one.

Much to my annoyance a few colloquial expressions seem to try to prove them selves to me over and over again.
One in particular and a prime example is: "Careful what you wish for". May not seem bad at first but it's recurring and unforgiving.
Hey,I believe it...don't worry,you needn't throw me a dud hand or a huge crapolla of a left swing to get me to believe that these well used idioms are correct.
I for one use them regularly and never ask to see a list of happy costumers or the rate of success from usage. I believe it!
My oh my fate,Karma,whatever you wish to call yourself you sure don't like me very much or if you do you are like one of these mothers that believe that the only way to bring up a successful child is to treat them mean! You're a bit like Joan Crawford in "Mommy dearest". Grrrrr...I needn't that type of emotional scarring what I do need is that for once things kind of go to plan or at least not in such a difficult and laborious head fuck of a way.
Please let me for once get something good out of it...a good outcome from something which I've worked hard for and I have worked hard,damned bloody hard at! So that I am exhausted. If only to be realized and finished without a hitch. That's all mother universe. That's my wish. Hope your day's going well...Did I say that I loved you?

We (Craft Guerrilla) are just back from the last leg of the Knitting & Stitching shows. As much hard work as it's been it's also been inspiring and an eye opener.
It's been a fantastic experience and we've made many a new friends on the way as well as met some old ones...OK not old as in age but people we've known for a while from the craft circuit.

My personal high light were the two days I spent in Harrogate. It's a beautiful spa town with the most amazing architecture and mood. It was pretty much how I envisaged the North of France to be. Before actually ever going to France I had this "Hollywood" vision but when I finally made it over I found out that France is nothing like what I imagined. But Harrogate has this elegance and charm that I had thought would fit the French landscape though it's truly English. Stone clad buildings, gentleman's apparel boutiques and hand made brogues, iron work canapes over pretty tea shops on neat hilly streets.
I guess I compared it to France but an idyllic one. I'm sure there are many places in France like this but personally I have never seen it. In fact I'm sure it has some sort of French influence or connection as the neighbourhood we were in was called Montepellier.

Harrogate is a great little treasure and somewhere I could see myself living for a while. It's very attractive with it's romantic aspect and history which transpires through every street and monument dotted amongst the gorgeous lanes that form the high street. I shall return but hopefully on a warmer day as climbing a steep road with a heavy wheelie suitcase in the snow is not the best way to see Harrogate!

Two years ago when launching Craft Guerrilla getting a book deal was something we had thought would be a million years away. Getting a deal with Black Dog has proven to be the sign I was waiting for. I've pretty much believed all along that what I was doing was right and that the people I am working with are absolutely spot on. It's so important to find the right people...we're all different personality wise but we work together pretty well. After many years of searching for the "right mix" of people this has come as a welcome light in a very long tunnel. So the hard work is about to begin and honestly...I'm excited!!! Looking through my portfolio of craft projects to find suitable proposals has been quite fun and a little bit scary. Having to come up with so many tutorials is daunting but it's also inspired me to create a few new ones and to revisit disciplines I had left or put to one side for a while. This brought me back to embroidery. I remember both grannies and mum being kick ass embroiders so I was a bit nervous about picking up the hoop but...I've grabbed it and I have to say that
I'm pretty much in love with embroidery again! It's like painting with a needle and thread. It's quite a good vehicle for my illustrations and drawings and I'm pleased with my first "Come Back" piece! A nice,cute and slightly dark tea tray cloth would be a great project for the book so "Squirrilla" and "Cup Kate" have jumped on the tray cloth and they're looking pretty good even if I say so myself. It's not perfect but I'm very much of the "Kaffe Fassett" school of embroidery and believe that OK, there are a few ground rules but stitch away and don't stick too much to them! I know the traditionalists will be disgusted but as long as you get the desired effect and you are enjoying it...go for it...I am!

mori mori is a sweet little creature. escaped from the ancient japanese forests this little sapling clings on and lays down roots in every available crack in the urban jungle. he comes bearing a very important message: "be kind to trees".
Try pulling him out of the ground and his little furry leaves will give you a nasty little rash. be nice and he'll be nicer back to you by producing some lovely fresh oxygen for you to breath!

I'm sure you've seen "West side story" and this gray squirrel was named after Anton "Tony" from the Jets gang, the main character who falls in love with the sister of a rival gang member. Isn't love grand?
He's a wild boy who "once knew a girl named Maria"but he just wants to love and be loved. The rival red squirrel gang (the sharks) are just trying to live in the promised land too. Will they ever see eye to eye? Take him home and share his bagde...join the gang and spread the love!

Unfortunately after much deliberation I've decided to close the munano web site. However I will keep making and selling my little soft sculptures but through a free provider and as usual in a few choice outlets (www.pennyfielding.com). As much fun as it was having my very own web site I have so many other things to do like Craft Guerrilla which has proven to be a huge but satisfying job in itself so giving my full attention to munano has been quite difficult.
Lets just say munano has taken a little bit of a back seat for now but fret not my fun loving chums it still lives on and hopefully when the rest starts managing itself then I can go back to giving the right attention needed to make munano a successful venture once more!

I was invited by the good people of Cut-Click magazine to exhibit in their fab show in Grimsby. The theme was "Mail Art" a subject very close to my heart as I've always decorated every single letter I've sent.
I enjoyed embroidering the envelope though given more time I would have filled the whole thing with lovely embroidered forest creatures and more.
It's enjoyable and I'm hooked.I hadn't embroidered in ages.Since I was a young child actually. Even if it is a bit freestyle...I know the ladies at embroiders guild would scream at me but like Kaffe Fassett I too am a rebel when it comes to rules of needle stitching!
Though I was nervous about it ever getting there...and everybody said :
"NO, you must stick it in an envelope!".
"But doesn't that defeat the object?" I replied.
My philosophy was and remains the following: if it gets there in one piece fine. If it doesn't then that's the process it went through to get there...and you know what...it did!

It's damned hard coming up with project ideas when you're not in the least inspired. We've all been there: deadlines,brief to meet and....nothing. Nada. Not a spark. Then out of the blue...they come in thick and fast! For November me and the Craft Guerrilla gals decide to have our Craft Events as a "Count Down to Xmas"kinda thing. This is OK but that means I need to come up with at least 4 or 5 new seasonal craft projects. BUT it's all in hand and I've come up with a few little offerings that might be a hit:
An embroidery diy craft pack ( A robin tray cloth), an autumn badge pack (a kawaii chestnut) and a few more I'm keeping under my hat. We wouldn't want to give the game away and ruin the element of surprise either!

You've had a great idea. What do you do about protecting it? Apart from living in a cave with your ideas,slumped over with them,grasping them tight in your arms and crying "my precious" until you're blue in the face there's not much else you can do.
OK send in the big boys and take them to court. Not everyone has the financial baking to do that. From what I've encountered there's a "mean" group of people out there (especially women for some reason)
that will stop at nothing. I try to remain philosophical and constantly tell myself :" It doesn't matter because you had the idea first. Credit where credit's do and it will come out in the end". BUT if no one knows it was you it really doesn't count for much. Seems that in the end...they get the whole world believing it was their idea to begin with!
It's not in my nature to boast and bullshit about achievements! I think I lack the gene.
The term "intellectual property theft" has been flung around quite a lot lately. I guess it's a sign of the times!Some people are so desperate to cash in that they'll literally take your idea...switch around a word or two (some don't even do that)and hey presto...it becomes theirs!
Now I'm a pretty fair gal and the basis of my project is about sharing things...knowledge,contacts,ideas too! I believed and hoped people would like those ides so much that they'd actually like to reproduce them but what I hadn't counted on was the lack of accreditation. Use it please,by all means, but don't make out it was your idea!

Last Thursday I was invited to a little secret gig by by best mate.
I was so excited because I've seen these guys but always in huge venues. They are great regardless of venue size.Jane's Addiction always amaze! Fire breathers,girls on trapezes and the fab music didn't disappoint! The sound system was pretty crap and waiting on your feet for 3 and a half hours to see them playing for just an hour was...painful!I did feel slightly cheated but on the other hand what a privilege I was one of the 200 or so people that were there! It was awesome and too quick! They played a tiny club in central London,off New Oxford street and...I was there.IT WAS AMAZING!

un-realised projects...

I have been invited to take part in the "Un realised projects volume 4" exhibition curated by Sam Ely and Lynn Harris.

Basically it's aimed at artists, writers, musicians and all sorts of creatives to showcase their projects...the ones that have never come to light.
This was a difficult one for me because I have a serious problem when it comes to pigeon holing myself and settling...I have so many interests and disciplines that sometimes it becomes overwhelming.I guess that's why it's so relevant because it leaves me with a large amount of unfinished projects. One of which is music.
As part of the exhibition I have started a My Space page "Frida Black Heart"- my alter ego (one of them anyway!) in an attempt to illustrate the sound scape of my project. My "un realised project". As you will hear there is no attempt to finish the songs because otherwise it would cease to be unfinished/unrealised therefore robbing the spectator of his/her power to use their imagination so to complete the end product and it's numerous outcomes.
I will be uploading samples and ideas I have recorded 10 years ago over a one year period as part of "the lost tapes" series. The page will remain active for the duration of the exhibition.

With the advent of the opening of the Taoist centre in Walthamstow Village lots of people have been milling around today.
Usually it gets pretty busy. People walk their pets, their children and visit the numerous eateries on Orford Road. Shop and rumage through the bric a brack in Finamore and delight with wonder at the eclectic mix of goodies at Beautiful Interiors.
With a bang of a drum and a steady gallop a hindu wedding crossed our paths and with the bright sun you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in India. A gorgeous day,bright, fun and full of colour! Who said Sundays were evil?

Hooray the Craft Guerrilla is growing into something quite spectacular. We've been inundated with requests from other creative people that love the idea and want to set up their own army. I can tell you that come JUNE...we'll be in another UK city! Watch this space.
It's all about sharing and linking up to a wider community and making it something that evolves and grows which promotes each and every individual in our community. I'm so excited by the prospect and I honestly admire all the great people that have made this possible. With out them it would be no more then a great idea that lived in a note book in a forgotten drawer.
After a brief sabbatical Munano will be back in May at the Craft Guerrilla Summer Markets at Beautiful Interiors. Lots of new characters to come!

It's official CRAFT GUERRILLA is one year old! This time last year it seemed to be an almost forgotten dream and it almost didn't come to life! Three years in the planning ,last March 2008 our little craft group started off as an answer to getting to grips with the world and it's unhealthy appetite with mass produced items and the waste it generates. Wow how things are a changing! We're happy that every one's woken up and joined us on this exciting and creative endeavour! We started off by holding craft markets but things have a funny way of coming together and evolving into even bigger and better projects. Because of the markets we've met many talented people and because of them things like the D.I.Y. craft nights have come to light and become the success they are today.
Join us for a celebration of what we hope will be the first of many more!
The first 50 people through the door will get a goody bag...all you early birds get a special crafty treat!
As usual we'll have some fun and easy craft projects,guest DJ's, vintage board games and impromptu workshops. This edition Lisa Margreet will be holding a "make do and mend" session. Bring along those slightly tatty knitted items and she'll show you how to darn them back into life! Now is no time for chucking things out and because we're all feeling the pinch we're still not charging an entry fee! However there is a small charge per craft pack but you get a project and hopefully some new skill you can use in future. So weather you want to learn something new or brush up on a forgotten skill we hope you can join us!
Also don't forget to bring your GUILTY PLEASURES.Your love to hate/hate to love records! The fab DJ duo Handsome Twins will spin them for you and you wont have to own up to it!

As part of the E17 Art Trail I took part in a group offering in a shop window. Each night the window was dressed by an artist and literally would have it's night in the window.
"The night you broke my heart" was my instillation piece
inspired by the American artist E. Hopper. Based on a family secret the viewer was invited to look into a moment of heart break.
A memory sustained within an imaginary scenario,frozen forever within half stories,mythes and shadowy truths.
The dim lighted scene draws in the spectator,obscuring certain elements so to lend personal interpretation that could be open to further speculation.
The reflection of the viewer in the piece holds them in ceasing their voyeuristic role making him/her a part of the story.

This is one of those places that if you had a chance to open a shop you'd certainly aspire to have it just like this...
"Of Cabbages and Kings" is a new indie shop in Stoke Newington just off the main drag (Church St).A former sweet shop this little space is bursting with character.
Filled with one off hand made art and craft this little gem is run by the lovely and friendly Jessica.
With her eye for quirky, pretty and fine hand made designer goods the shop manages to look effortlessly stylish.
The mix of art,craft and hand picked 1950's vintage furniture is excellent and right on the mark.
Without looking full to bursting point the stock is generous and there is plenty to see. The talent is in Jessica and how she chooses stock and displays the items. Invoking a sense of calm by the way that items are made to look special and loved. Pieces look radiant,almost jewel like as they take pride of place rather then chaotically crammed onto over saturated shelves like in lots of shops. It's far from stark and minimalist.It's bright, roomy and inviting.
Have a look at their web site and if you're around Stokie pop in for a browse. I'm sure that you won't leave without purchasing something...I dare you not to!

It's that time again...when my brain starts to feel like it needs to create more mischief.

OH WELL... over activity and boredom take over so by adding another creature to the already extensive munano family keeps it under control...for a little while anyway!

deforestation to spread the word on ecology and harmonious
inter species living and...
Monsieur Mercury the singing moustache (pictured above).

a true icon, couldn't just fade into the background. His work must
go on and so he hitched his way into the forest where he now continues

East London Craft Guerrilla

I'm not one to stand still for too long so what better way to occupy my spare time,which may I say is not that much,then by creating a craft group/craft movement!
Oh well a girl's gotta keep busy or she'll just end up buying more and more pairs of shoes...

So here it is...the East London Craft Guerrilla which is part of the Craft Guerrilla(that's the mother ship...which is us too!).
We've taken on the East London part because that's where we're based and so to give others the chance to start up their own Craft Guerrillas.
We're all for giving talented artists,designers and crafts people a fair chance and opportunities to make what they like of it...and that's why we created this group and as artists and crafts people ourselves we totally embrace the idea of being able to live off your work without exploiting or using our fellow people...also we like the idea of working with like minded folk!
The Craft Guerrilla is all about TAKING OVER empty venues with our craft army and associating with other already established, independent,creative businesses and offering a fantastic opportunity to sell our hand made work to the masses while bringing new products and shoppers to those businesses.It'll be happening all over the capital because we think everyone deserves the chance to buy hand made!
You could say that it's almost like a Squat Market but legal as we rent out the venues from the landlords.It's all about regeneration and not leaving empty shop premises go to waste.We hate waste!

Can you use the name? Yes you can!
In fact we hope you like the idea so much that you will want to!
Just let us know,because it's polite to ask and because we like to know who's out there using our manifesto...also it adds to the collective where we can all grow by sharing information,knowledge and more!

I'm passionate about supporting artists, designers,hand made products,crafts people and small businesses.
There's so much mass produced tat around and many consumers are buckling the trend by revolting and buying unusual,well made,quality objects and products direct from makers as a result of wanting something different and not off the peg.OK not all consumers do it for ethical reasons but the fact that it's going against the grain is a lot to be said about people.Unfortunately large multi million dollar companies have latched on to this trend too but if it makes people aware then at least it's had a positive affect.
So...if you're around London this Holiday season don't forget to check out the vast number of local art and craft markets springing up in the capital.
There's loads of great stuff out there!

Each illustration has been printed onto canvas,painted,printed,lino cut,stitches and/or embroidered.

Mixed media work on family portraits fused with fantasy and story telling playfully depicted through the hypothesis
of "animal" evolution in place of humanity.

What to do when a multi million $ company doesn't pay up?

A very good question. Maybe you can help and answer with some legal know how.
It all started last year. I was so happy to have my dolls up for sale in Fabrica Features Benetton Shop in Lisbon. Apart from the great kudos, but I must confess that as a teenager I absolutely hated Benetton... too many pastel shades for a young punk rocker, I thought it would be a great chance to get my creations out in the big wide world. They were taken on a sale or return basis which with hindsight I would never have done but each opportunity must be explored and taken...or so I though!
I've now taken back my stock and have been awaiting payment for over 4 months. All receipts/invoices are legal but they say otherwise. After speaking to the relevant tax offices it was said that on imported stock they are exempt from paying the VAT what they need to do is pay their equivalent tax to their country's financial department. So why they need it is beyond me. Basically you would need a VAT number only if you were trying to get a reimbursement from the UK's tax office which they can not do. From what I understand a company that exports to another EU country does not need to provide their Tax registration number as this is only relevant in their own country.
I know that this Benetton shop in Lisbon is a franchise but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth regarding the company as a whole. It's just really sad when a large company like Benetton tries to tap into the handmade, art and craft market and actually explores small makers like myself.
Oh well...that'll teach me for not stick to my ethos and teenage beliefs!

Hooray...the new collection is ready to purchase in my online boutique!My little hands were sewing away like frantic ferrets...can they even hold a sewing needle? You get the picture.
It was intense, hours of designing, sewing and stuffing but all worth it. As well as the old favorites there are some new
characters. Misleading bunnies, gang land squirrels,
hot headed bears and run away rock show flames(pictured).

After much "uhmmming" and "Awwwwing" I've taken the plunge and finally got my act together and opened a web site. You can now buy directly from me at my web boutique. Payment is easy as you can purchase using Pay Pal. If you haven't an account go to www.paypal.com and sign up for one.It's a safe web based bank used widely on the net by many traders (ebay etc). It's easy and safe!

For this new collection my inspiration has been a return to the natural world and Japanese Manga animation. Lots of twisted, "kawaii" forest creatures, bunnies, wild cats, gnarley bears and sadistic squirrels. I've kept the materials beautiful and simple. Lots of vintage fabrics and buttons. It makes life so much easier as I work on a small batch basis and I think that makes them even more special. I do like the idea of some kind of consistency and later along the line I will buy large amounts of the one fabric design so I can offer people just that. For the Walthamstow Arts trail exhibition (London 2006) I did a series of
"electronic collages" based on childhood dreams and fantasies. It's a process that has evolved into more elaborate illustrations with the use of hand drawings,photography and photo-shop manipulation that gives them rich layers of colours. At the moment I'm doing a printing course and hopefully I can incorporate some silk screen printing onto my work which I think can add an extra layer of depth.

Busy,busy,busy...my life revolves around hectic days of holding down a job and coming up with new designs and ideas for my own ventures. I love ,and always have loved, sewing and making things.My mind is always filled with images, projects,songs,poetry,music ,colour and a strong belief that everything in our imaginations is possible to recreate. I made my first doll in 1984
when my cousin was a toddler.It was a freaky,skinny,pink wool haired doll with the most fabulous white velor fabric for skin. I went on to study ceramics in Porto ,Portugal. I took a break from doll making and as a young punk I continued to sew but then for more selfish and pressing reasons...I needed some cool clothing to wear so I made my own! After many years of going through many professions, different jobs and then the last straw...when my last much loved job was made redundant I returned to my first love and began to stitch my way into making bunnies, cats and other creatures. After a stint at Sunday UpMarket (Brick Lane) in 2005 I decided to sell via the net and direct to shops. Last year I went to Lisbon and took my creatures with me. The response was good and very interesting. Now I have a boutique on ETSY (see link),sell in Fabrica Features Lisboa and Penny Fielding Beautiful Interiors London. This has been a slow process and an tiring one at times but absolutely worth it!
